Re: Bad power supply. I think.

Thank you for the reply GrueMaster. The power supply current output specifications are insane. 10 amps for +12 ... and... 13 amps for one +5 line. I found a used supply at ebay for $40 with shipping. The problem is, if it arrives and doesn't fix it then I have either received a bad used supply or pr...

Re: Which printer to get?

Thanks for the replies.
I ended up ordering the Artillery Sidewinder X1 which I believe to be similar to the CR-10.
It's due to arrive in 6 days. Can't hardly wait. The huge build space is going to be great!
Hope I get a good one.

Re: Questions from a new but experienced printer

Thanks for the simple explanation. I understand the Artillery Sidewinder X1 might be a competitor for the Creality CR-10. Cura is found in the OpenSuse repository, it looks pretty much straight forward. I'm very familiar with Raspberry Pi and only recently heard of Octoprint. Sounds like a great com...

Questions from a new but experienced printer

Title: "Questions from a new but experienced printer". Please let me explain, and please move this thread if it's in the wrong place. My question is about 3D printing software and the process. I've been doing 3D artwork since about 2001 and got a Makerbot Mini in 2015. I took right to that...

Which printer to get?

I am not new to 3d printing. I've had a Makerbot Mini that I got as a fathers day gift ($700 @ SAMS club) in 2015. I build a ton of custom robotic parts and the printer gets a lot of almost daily use. My Makerbot have proven to be reasonably trouble-free and a very reliable printer. Just load the mo...

Re: Welcome, where are you from?

SteveFury from Atlanta Georgia USA. I've been working in 3D graphics since about 2001, and it seemed the whole world opened up when I got my Makerbot Mini as a fathers day gift in 2015. I used it a lot, but it has suffered a major break down and considering my options. I love to work with robotics u...

Re: Bad power supply. I think.

Additionally, Now that I have the OEM PS out of the printer, I can turn it on and observe its cooling fan remains off. I have the +5 on one red wire, that's all. I'm not sure if it needs a signal on one of its other wires (yellow or gray) so I experimented by applying the +5 line to both the yellow ...

Bad power supply. I think.

I've used my Makerbot Mini quite a lot since new in 2015, printing almost every day. I was printing a battery mount yesterday when it suddenly stop mid-print. Usually, when an error occurs the print bed will be driven down a couple inches and the hot end/gantry goes "home". The suspected t...
