The problem could be in the stl export.
If you try Superspicer it will open up a 3mf file, for all I know Cura might too. In FreeCAD you just select the body from the left window and export as 3MF. No meshing, no complicated procedure, no VooDoo, that's it.

Re: Which is good quality filament
I read some reviews and ordered a roll of Jayo PLA+, it has a claimed dimensional accuracy +/- 0.02mm and was crazy cheap. I'm planning on stress testing it so I'll report back. I did a review on the PETG they sent me and it printed very, very nicely I'll be darned! I didn't realize that was you. I...

They're very different, but much simpler thankfully. It's a BL Touch knockoff yes, but apparently not a straight ripoff.

Ninjaflex alternatives
A project I've been tinkering with is one piece pneumatic grippers, and I have a plan for optical position sensing and a crude sort of tactile feedback based mathematically on pressure and position. This works when printed with TPU but it's not as efficient as I'm hoping to achieve so if someone cou...

Re: Which is good quality filament
ZYLTech Prices look really good, I'm looking forward to trying them. I've been using Sunlu, mainly the silk with good results. I'd like to try PLA+ now, and need white for a faceplate on a robotics project. ZYLTech doesn't offer an PLA+, and Sunlu is sold out (and there's rumors that their PLA+ is l...

Re: wirelock
There's lots of spring loaded wire terminals, many with PCB pins. Also PCB mount Dupont connectors that accept leads from components nicely with a press fit. I wouldn't have thought of that one but my boss put a board on my bench that was using Dupont connectors to hold a leaded fuse just last week,...

Sidewinder X2 ABL probes
Artillery, in their infinite wisdom does not offer the silly plastic rods they use as ABL sensor probes for sale as replacements. I've been looking for replacement ones to have on hand, even tried printing them but they're not smooth enough. So I'm starting this thread to document my search, hopeful...

Bad stl file? Maybe try a file that has a similar object and see if it still happens.

Re: CAD design
FreeCAD is not the easiest software, but it just might have the most Youtube videos to help beginners, that's how I'm learning anyway. I'm 30+ years into electronics and I code C++ as well, for a beginner, a two piece CAD model to turn a rotary encoder might be a bit overwhelming..... But, a two pie...

Re: 3D printing software
I use Superslicer and love it, it has settings for everything and can save profiles, but the stock profiles worked more than acceptable. It also opens 3MF files from FreeCAD so I don't have to go through the meshing ritual with everything I make in CAD. Can't argue with the price either

Re: Sidewinder Z-Axis dress up and useful test print
I tried yesterday to make ABL probes. Took all of 30 seconds to CAD it but I suppose they're too small to print nicely because they don't print smooth even in vase mode. All they are is 2mm X 15mm so I may need to find a source of 2mm plastic rod and just make them the (no fun) old fashioned way wit...

Re: Sidewinder Z-Axis dress up and useful test print
Random thought I wanted to share.... I have a machine that has the same sized X axis gantry. I'm trying to find a replacement carriage so I can put a quality hot end on that machine. I think I can use the Artillery sidewinder x carriage.... or even the Sovol ones. Do you need some measurements and ...

Sidewinder Z-Axis dress up and useful test print
Shown here are the Z-Axis supports that I downloaded from somewhere, but the threaded rod, nuts, and washers showed so I used FreeCAD to make some trim pieces to cover the nuts and washers, and they have a recess on the outer end to allow for split loom tubing to cover the threaded rod and tuck into...
