Re: cura not slicing

basically I just need to reduce the amount of material inside the head to a healthy middle ground where there is enough to serve as a support, but not so much that it takes nearly a week to print. that way I won't need to add any additional supports, while still maintaining a printable object. (but ...

Re: cura not slicing

Glad we were able to help:}) do you know how I might be able to reduce the amount of material inside the head? I went to print it and the print will almost take a week  because the step to fill it in was done inside fusion360 I assume that I would need to reduce the amount of material in fus...

Re: reducing print time for large object

I've attached a screenshot with 2 arrows. the green arrow shows the excess material I need to mostly get rid of/hollow out (getting rid of enough so that the print doesn't take nearly as long, but not so much that it won't print due to lack of support), and the blue arrow shows where some material i...

Hi everyone, I have an object I need to print but it's very large and at present take a week to print if i print it continuously. the process for creating this is as follows: i generate the object in blender, then go into fusion360 to make it a water tight object that is 3d printable by doing a stic...

Re: not printing my stl properly

I downloaded your latest file and first looked at it in a stl viewer and then confirmed it in Cura. I first noticed defects and it looks even worse in Cura! ok. it seems like the only problem to get it printing properly is making it watertight. i'm looking into what i may be able to do in blender a...

Re: not printing my stl properly

Viewing the stl, it still shows that it is not watertight hi again country, how are you checking if it's watertight in cura? maybe i'll have to get fusion so i can follow your method properly. after looking into freecad there are apparently several limitations it has, so i'll try another cad softwa...

Re: not printing my stl properly

L67GS wrote: May 2nd, 2023, 12:21 pm The problem could be in the stl export.
If you try Superspicer it will open up a 3mf file, for all I know Cura might too. In FreeCAD you just select the body from the left window and export as 3MF. No meshing, no complicated procedure, no VooDoo, that's it.
sounds great, i'll see if that works

not printing my stl properly

Hi everyone, Only a part of my stl is being printed. here is what i have done with my object: -i added a couple of planes in freecad on the top and back of the object to make it solid -then in freecad I followed all of these instructions on doing a mesh repair to make sure it is a solid surface with...

Re: smoothing out a surface

The stl file will always be made up of triangles. You can still get a smooth looking surface as long as the Cad program your using does a smooth surface. Usually you have a setting on export to define the accuracy of the stl file. More accurate, larger file. I haven't tried using other formats for ...

Re: smoothing out a surface

I use blender to "decimate" stl files, that is, to reduce the number of triangles. I then import the new file into Freecad and save it as a step file so I can work on it. I'm not able to smooth the part but I can then work on it in a CAD program, like adding or taking away features. Lez y...

Re: smoothing out a surface

Hi t4gp3 There is no easy way to smooth this out. It's a stl file which is make up of triangles. It has been exported from a 3D modelling software. There are various programs that can work with this file format (stl), but as far as I know they can't turn the triangles into smooth surfaces. Lez do y...
