Re: Spontaneous axis reversal
Just to report back as promised - I did clear/reset as instructed but with no joy. Some additional troubleshooting helped me determine that the Y-axis is ok. Direction of travel and limit switch trigger is correct. Z-axis is running in the normal direction, but the board is not recognizing my new in...

Re: Spontaneous axis reversal
Thanks for the advice and guidance - I will follow your instructions and report back. On the G-Codes I have not used Cura 15.04.6. Instead I normally use Pronterface. Is this a potential issue?

Re: Spontaneous axis reversal
I had previously flashed an upgrade to 1.1.0 RC8 with good results. During the my most recent re-build I did take the opportunity to upgrade to a sub-version of RC8 created by Dark Dragon Wing (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2116377/#files). This is when the problem first appeared. After some ini...

Spontaneous axis reversal
I bought a 3DP-12 last year. Assembled it and had a great time running lots of prints and doing some minor upgrades, hot end replacement, etc. All was going very well until I decided to take it apart for routine cleaning and maintenance lubing the rods, screws, and cable management. When I reassemble...

Re: Hic 3DP-08 Marlin 1.1.0 RC8
Thanks for the advice. There is definitely a bit of wobble in the screw fit. Especially in the top retaining bracket which is a bit over sized. However, the reduction in acceleration definitely had a positive impact to my print quality. Maybe a 60% reduction in random Z banding. I am going to print ...

Re: Hic 3DP-08 Marlin 1.1.0 RC8
I am running the stock screws from Hictop on my 3DP-12. After the firmware update I have grown a nasty case of random Z banding. I know my screws are straight - enough (as I didn't have this problem before the firmware update). So I am thinking that I should reduce the acceleration from 3000 to 2000...

Re: Hic 3DP-08 Marlin 1.1.0 RC8
Away from my file right now, but there is really not much to do - literally you only touch a few lines. Just redefine the thermistor, update max/min temps, input auto tune results. Follow the E3D instructions exactly and you will be successful, https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Guide/V6+Assembly/6 The o...

Re: Hic 3DP-08 Marlin 1.1.0 RC8
Duh! After carefully watching my print go wrong for the 3rd time I noticed the very pronounced retraction that was occurring in the suspect area of the print. I read my E3D specs a bit more closely and noticed that the new hot end should be limited to 2mm (for Bowden configuration). I had the Cura s...

Re: Hic 3DP-08 Marlin 1.1.0 RC8
I bought my 3DP-12 about a month ago and have really enjoyed the process of building and testing the printer. Print quality was great with the factory standard nozzle/extruder configuration and firmware. No issues across a wide variety of geometries and print settings. However, I could not resist th...
