Jagged lines on first layer yet print come out perfect

I should rephrase, this occurs on ALL layers. I don't recall seeing this ever before but I don't know if this is some type of layer/row interlock setting to allow the adjacent lines to bond better together? I doubt it but throwing it out there. The first layer comes out perfect despite this as you c...

Duplicator i3, what are YOU doing for out of filament sensors?

I really wanted to be able to monitor out of filament at the extruder as i have had multiple occasions where my filament has broken closer to the extruder than the filament spool. I designed and mounted my switch atop the extruder but it limited my z height to 160. I cannot see another way to get th...

Re: Had a thermal runaway error today, first time printing w/ ASA, bed temp at 90C

Hi Dave, I've experienced a printer fire (not at home) and it can really change how you think about safety! (Much like most don't bother with a home alarm system until they've experienced a burglary!) Do be safe! If the worst happens, your home owners insurance may appreciate whatever efforts your ...

Re: Had a thermal runaway error today, first time printing w/ ASA, bed temp at 90C

Glad you got that sorted out! Print Safe Thank you. I am not diminishing your concern as it's a very real thing. Any heater that has a thermal runaway can be a very dangerous beast. I do have a camera on mine and usually monitor the prints via repetier server when gone but I have gotten very compla...

Re: Had a thermal runaway error today, first time printing w/ ASA, bed temp at 90C

I'm not sure I would entirely trust a sub-$400 printer to print unattended. Many machines in this cheap price category have burned down homes. So definitely improve your safety game A safety enclosure will contain the heat so machines that struggle to get to temps can do so better when the heat isn...

Had a thermal runaway error today, first time printing w/ ASA, bed temp at 90C

I have a maker select V2 PLUS so it has a 24VDC output PS. With that said I still did the mosfet mod just to err on the side of caution. Today was my first time w/ my bed temps at 90C and i got this thermal runaway error. I wasn't monitoring it at the time so I don't know what exactly happened but t...

Best cost effective filament that can stand up to the effects of the sun w/o warping?

I erroneously assumed since PLA melted at a quite high temp it would retain its shape in the sun. Sadly i've found that some of my thinner brackets that hold items outside of my house are warping and the friction fit is now anything but. I was reading and some said Polycarbonate is an option but it'...

Weird curling problem when printing a thin item in 100% infil

The print job is a 4.5mm thick plate (lid actually) that is 155x160mm (See attached stl). It will curl on the front right side of the print when printing infills of 50% or greater. Al though due to time constraints I only tested in 20% (my normal go to infill), 50% and 100% (What my goal infill for ...

homing distance actual vs. reported and first layer. maker select v2

Hello, I'm new to this board but I figured I'd see if you guys had any insight for me. I have a maker select V2 that i seem to have to set up in an atypical fashion. If I go about leveling as the manufacturer states by homing all and then using a piece of paper (Just dragging a hair) it is way off a...
