Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
I am simply overly busy trying to combine my position at the University with running my own business and spending time on parental leave half way around the planet. My focus lately, when I am not caught up with all the things I have to do, has been trying to learn how to use the Pocket NC that I bou...

Re: Layer splitting with ABS
I have printed a lot in ABS though the years and there are simply certain things you do and certain things you don't do with pure ABS in a printer which doesn't have an actively heated chamber. I always print with the bed at 90-95 C, with a thin layer of Tesa Easy Stick glue on the bed and always wi...

Re: Which bowden and collet/retainer for UM2 1.75mm conversion?
I used a regular bowden with an inner tube to fit the 1.75 mm filament and than the regular collets/clips. I can't remember if/how the inner tube was fixed, I think there was something in one end f it to prevent it from slipping, Carl/3DSolex might be able to answer as he provided that bowden tube. ...

Re: UM2 PTFE fit in stainless steel part
A tight fit helps keeping the PTFE in shape when the extruder applies pressure, but it is probably not the end of the world if it is a slightly loose fit. The important thing is that the PTFE is pressed towards the block so there is a tight seal between the block and the PTFE, or you will have a lea...

Re: UM2 PTFE fit in stainless steel part
It is a quite tight fit on genuine Ultimaker parts.
If you turn the stainless part upside down the PTFE certainly should not fall out, but you should be able to push the PTFE all the way down using your fingers without it being painful. That is the best way I can describe the required force

Re: Creality CR-10 ESSENTIAL Unboxing, Assembly, First Print Video
Had a look at the CR-10 a few times at work and if I needed a printer I would rather choose it over the Prusa MK3 that I just bought.
The CR-10 has an impressively clean and simple design, seems easy to assemble and prints really well out of the box.

Re: Suddenly my SD card isn't read by my printer
I had the exact same issue just a few days ago and cleaning the contact surfaces on the SD card fixed it! The most weird thing was that my UM2Go (with tinkergnome firmware) got stuck "Reading card" for a few seconds and the rebooted (?). I tried it multiple times with the same result every...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
Very busy as usual and a power failure at work yesterday afternoon didn't make it better. Luckily nothing broke this time, just a bit of work to get everything up an running again. When we had a power failure a year ago there was some sort of voltage spike which took equipment for ~$15000 with it, i...

Re: First Lithophane
You are doing it wrong, print it standing on the long edge instead and you will get much better resolution! :-) 2017-07-02-1917.jpg 2017-07-03-1920.jpg 2017-07-03-1921.jpg You obviously need to use 100% infill. White PLA works well, natural/translucent materials are too transparent. There is a rathe...

Re: Anyone use Polycarbonate (PC) or PETG?
I haven't printed Polycarbonate recently. The early types required very high temperatures, but recent versions like the Ultimaker branded one is apparently easier to print. Both PC and PETG (Colorfabb XT) are hygroscopic and might need drying when the spool has been open for a while. PETG can be dri...

Re: Has anyone used NinjaTek Cheetah?
I think the ninjaflex cheetah is rather similar to the Ultimaker TPU95A, so it should work okay if you don't print too fast. I have been printing the TPU95A on the UM3 in a dual print with retractions and it came out okay. One should increase the retraction distance to avoid oozing though, which I d...

Re: Drying your humid filaments....
I have been drying my Bridge Nylon and other materials in an oven a few hours at 80 C, it works fine. This was a precise lab-oven though, if you attempt this at home make sure you have a precise thermometer inside the oven to check the actual temperature. PETG can also absorb a bit of moisture, but ...

Re: CR-10 vs Ultimaker 2+ Benchie prints
Interesting, zebra-bug that the Ultimaker machines suffer from under certain conditions is clearly visible here.
Do you know what stepper driver circuit the CR-10 is using?
This reminds me that I really should get a set of those TL-smoothers to test on the Ultimaker.
