Re: Ultimaker Original+ Extended custom build at Stockholm Makerspace
Just popping in here to post a update. Just finished the second rebuild of this machine. Replaced the UMO feeder with a Bondtech QR, and mounted it to the front left of the machine, and mounted the spool holder on the left side as well. Now the lazy susans we talked about above are unnecessary, sinc...

Re: Brass versus Stainless Steel nozzles
I would say that brass is absolutely better. Stainless steel has poor heat conductivity to the point where it affects the printing, and has in my opinion no right to exist other than if you are building some kind of food grade printing equipment. The Abrasion resistance is only about four times the ...

Re: Dual pro head from Zmorph
That Zmorph Dual Pro head is a overweight beast, it weighs a ton and didn't print that well in my tests (i had a Zmorph at the office for trying it out a while back) It would be possible to manufacture a dual-input-single-output Olsson Block for the UM2(+), but it would have all the limitations of a...

Re: Which bowden and collet/retainer for UM2 1.75mm conversion?
I used a 2/4mm standard PTFE bowden tube (bought from E3D), 4mm couplings (https://www.aliexpress.com/item//32839845677.html) and a printed top part for the print head: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/um2-print-head-top-for-2-85-1-75-filaments https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/files.youmagine.com...

My DICE build
This will probably be a slow one, i got about half of the parts last summer and only started putting some together the other day, but i am building René Jurack's small overengineered printer DICE (https://well-engineered.net/index.php/en/82-this-time-not-a-teaser-seconddiceupdate) :-) Most my frame ...

Re: Looking for small 3D-printers
DICE for the win (i have most of the parts myself, just have to find the time to start building)
Most small printers are low-price ones that lack rigidity to get good print quality.
I have built a UMO clone in UM2GO size, lasercut plywwod with a UM2 printhead, that one came out pretty well

No, it stalls at between 105 and 120 depending on the individual printer. He has added a extra silicone heater to the bottom of the bed to boost the temperature.

Re: What size UPS will I need.
All UPS manufacturers have sizing tools that help you to choose, you will probably need a model rated for something like 1000 to 1500VA to get enough runtime (if you can have a 5min power outage, you should size your UPS for at least a 8-10min runtime, since the battery will degrade over time).' Che...

Ultimaker Software News, Cura 3, Cura Connect etc.
Ultimaker just announced some stuff at TCT, including Ultimaker Cura 3.0, integrations with SolidWorks and Siemens NX, a new Print Management solution called "Cura Connect" for Ultimaker 3 and more. I'll also guess that this is the reason we saw the code relicensing for Cura this summer, t...

Re: What's good with higher temps and won't warp like crazy?
Probably because they found the pretty similar CPE filament better in some way? It was actually called UPET (Ultimaker PET) a short period when it was first launched.

Re: What's good with higher temps and won't warp like crazy?
Well, PETG is one plastic among a lot of Co-Polyester variations, Colorfabb nGen, XT and HT are all different co-polyesters, just as Ultimaker CPE and CPE+ are other co-polyesters.
Ultimaker CPE is quite similar to Colorfabb XT, the CPE+ is closer to the HT.
