Re: Various electronics (mainboards) for 3D printers

That Megatronics board looks quite nice, it is only sad that it does not have PT100 inputs, i use those everywhere nowadays... Can't that be hacked with an external board or something? I've never used a PT100 so far... (The megatronics 3.0 was designed before those were popular anyway so it stands ...

Re: Various electronics (mainboards) for 3D printers

If you're looking for an 8 bit board I can vouch for megatronics 3.0 from reprapworld. Did a whole review/tutorial here . As for the smoothieboard, I have one installed now. Configuring it is a breeze. Compared to Marlin it's like a hundred times better. Although, if you intend to use an LCD get the...

Re: Upgrade kit available

@chopmeister: on the other hand you are a hardcore user of the kind that is used to design your own upgrades (and does so with great success), while many users would consider swapping out a temperature sensor a major undertakning. While I wouldn't phrase it like that (more like I'm not afraid to dr...

Re: Replacement fans for UMO

So....in summary....ignore the other wires and just use red & black? These things are very quiet and have amazing airflow. Exactly. Ditch the other wires and hope it works. I've ran several fans that came with 3 or 4 wires like that, and PWM worked on all but one of them somehow. Does...

Re: Upgrade kit available

I guess it's a nice upgrade, and I may be wrong, but I would never, ever, ever dish out 400+ Eur (with shipping and taxes probably more than 500, and I can almost make a complete and decent printer for that amount) for something like this. It seems way overpriced, but that's the same with all UM acc...

Re: Fan shroud upgrade

I'd recommend you get yourself a pair of 40x40x10 Sunon Maglev fans which are absolutely amazing and ditch the 50mm ones. And as a side note, buy a stack of darlington transistors if you have the old electronics, I fried mine like 5 times while testing various fan combos. :D Old UMO electronics are ...

Re: ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fiber Filament

I made this thing last year, lasercut the wood on my laser, and printed the handles in CF20 on my E3D V4. The paddle itself was modeled after an old Joola model which I had when I was a kid. Turned out pretty well, the photo shows the handles after sanding and a coat of lacquer. The thing I like mos...

Re: ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fiber Filament

I printed some on a .4 nozzle and the prints were spectacular. Had no issues whatsoever, the only deal was to print really slow. Like 30-40 mm/s. And that's it. Didn't do anything special really.

Some users not getting activation mails

Two of my friends registered for the forums but didn't get any activation mail. Checked spam folders and everything but still nothing. They registered before me even, I got the mail instantly, they still have nothing. Could you check that out somehow?

Re: Ultimaker 2 pancake stepper direct drive

Yeah, the pancake stepper without a form of transmission won't make a reliable extruder IMHO, and personally I'd always go with an adjustable spring-loaded idler. It can be a pain to stuff into a miniature design but I think it's worth it. I've also been making small extruders in my spare time for q...

Re: Here we are!

I have to say I used to enjoy the old, old ultimaker forums, and the UM google group before that, but as it started to get swamped by users, I got a bit lost in all the threads. I preferred it much more when there was just a bunch of people experimenting like crazy with various stuff all eager to ma...

Re: Welcome, where are you from?

Hey everyone, Hrvoje aka chopmeister here from Zagreb, Croatia. Nice to be here, Johnny and Alex (Antiklesys) from the UM forums told me to come join, so here I am. Not really a forum person though, but I'll try to be around. I've got an UMO although the only stock part on it now is the wooden frame...
