Re: Usermap and mChat
+1 for Meduzas suggestion of dropping the mChat in favor of a web based IRC plugin that is connected to the #ultimaker channel.

Re: How do you time lapse your prints?
I am still looking for a suitable timelapse setup for my UM2. Unfortunately most of the camera mounts for the UM2 are designed to clip to the front top frame which doesn't work for me as I have this front door installed on it which can't be opened anymore with most of the camera mounts in place. I a...

Re: What's the magic temperature for the heated bed?
For PLA I use 60°C and no glue, just a clean glass. For ABS I use 90°C and the glue stick that came with my UM2. That works fine for almost all of my prints. If I had problems, it was usually that I didn't clean the glass for a longer time. I only use a slightly wet cloth for that.

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
If you are looking towards that kind of CNC (Belt driven on rails) there are some other 'groove-rail' based machines like the Openbuild OX , you can source parts yourself or buy kits -- you can find the parts directly in Europe as well (Like e.g. this one )... It is the same type of architecture as...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
You mean they have raised their shipping fees recently? I was looking at buying one and got a shipping price of about 150$ or something in the vicinity, wich seemed fair I just checked again and you are right - 170 USD to Germany. They must have found a way to ship via regular post service. The las...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
I think my next attack of gear acquisition syndrome will result in me buying a Shapeoko 3. The only thing that holds me back is their exorbitant international shipping fees. I still refuse to pay 400-500 USD in shipping (and taxes on top of that) for a 1000 USD item.

Do you just have the video or did he also publish more details on how he did it? I assume it uses a custom firmware and some driver circuit instead of a feeder motor.

Re: Fusion360
I used OpenSCAD before I started using Fusion360 because I liked the way I could clearly specify and later adjust dimensions compared to Sketchup. But I was always missing the interactive, visual part from Sketchup. Fusion360 combines both in a very nice way. My current challenge in Fusion360 is to ...

Re: SpaceClaim
I tried OpenSCAD, Sketchup, and a few others for a while but never got happy with any. From the excellent Layer By Layer videos on the Adafruit YouTube channel I got introduced to Fusion 360 and I have to admit that I haven't touched anything else since I started with it :-) But I do this as a hobby...

Re: Discussion: Collaborative 3D model library
The BOLTS library is also available in IGES format which should be supported by a large number of CAD programs - Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks can do it AFAIK, there is an extension for Sketchup. BOLTS is based on GIT and it links all parts back to the respective DIN, ISO, etc. standards. From my ...
