Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Regarding the patent discussion, it is an interesting one. I would say filing for a patent for the autoleveling is a natural step for Ultimaker. It is a rather clever solution which uses novel technology and certainly is of value (if they make it a bit more reliable). I think the reasons why Ultimak...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

I heard a strange noise coming from the printer :-o Not the feeder but didn't sound good  it was the 'y' axis motor that was beginning to seize :-x and was a bit hot. Interesting, I never heard of the x-y-axis motor failing before but I noticed a strange noise from one of the axis on my UM2 la...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Anders: I hope that after (or during) your metal printer training, you get to share some videos/pictures... So curious about those things! :) We did the first test print on the training today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oxUeobIwQI :-) I am extremely busy right now, so I don't have much time d...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

I am simply way too busy right now do write any extensive forum post. Things should be a bit less busy in a few weeks though. Today, I have among other things been testing the repeatability of the Z-positioning on the Delta Tower: 2017-02-15-0658.jpg And been extruding some boron carbide plastic wit...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

In case you are wondering why I am disappearing from the forum from time to time, it is simply because I am very busy. We got a few new toys at work lately which requires attention, among other things. First a new extruder, that I have been stress-testing with boron carbide lately :-) 2017-02-04-057...

Re: Coffee chat (since the other thread is huge!)

Pictures or it didn't happen! :-D No photos of that incident, unfortunately. Unplugging the power cord and the battery ASAP was the only thing in my mind as the keyboard was instantly filled with coffee and the excess was pouring onto the desk and further down on the floor. And I don't thin...

Re: Delta Tower heated bed upgrade

I think this one was much less expensive than the current models, I remember seeing something like 5kEuro for a kit (?), which is still quite a lot though. They don't offer these "small" models anymore though as far as I can see. I did try to cut holes in the bubbles with a razor blade, bu...

Re: Coffee chat (since the other thread is huge!)

Talking about coffee, I just had to order a new laptop for work, since I managed to fill my old laptop with coffee, which it did not like..

Re: Block v3 or Olsson Block

I've used both the "Olsson" block from 3dsolex and the V3 block from 3dsolex and I find the Olsson block to be a huge improvement from not having it at all but the block V3 is only a minor improvement. Funny that you wrote that because that is precisely why I did not make any upgraded ver...

Please don't! Your insight and opinions are very valuable! Ultiarjan posted a first basic print test. Basically it doesn't seem to be more than a easy mod. Anyhow shiny and red for looks. Well, I basically share your opinion. It was a very good review by UltiArjan by the way, anyone who likes to re...

Re: Z-axix linear bearings

I found it difficult to diagnose the bearings by printing on this machine, surprisingly.
Somehow it appears that all the shaking when printing makes the bearings less likely to stick, I think that 90% of the prints still came out fine with those bearings in the video (!).

Re: Z-axix linear bearings

I could not get the z-shafts out on my machine and then it is quite a lot of work, nothing I would do for fun at least. Unfortunately I think I replaced my bearings with non-Misumi ones, at least they did not come in such nice boxes and the new ones also appeared to have slight sticking issues. I ju...

Re: Cura Feature request: Infill Height

It works really well with 40% infill though, at least with 1.75 mm filament and direct drive :-) Instantly switching from 30 mm/s at 0.1 mm layer hight (outer wall) to 60 mm/s at 0.3 mm layer height (infill) is no match for the direct drive, it only underextrudes the first few millimeters: 2017-01-2...

Re: Cura Feature request: Infill Height

johan wrote:I think 100% infill is still a frontend hack where it changes top or bottom layers to 9999 and skips normal infill.
Ohh, so that is why Cura 2.4 sometimes insists to print the infill at 30mm/s even thought it is set to 60mm/s.
Thanks a lot, I did not connect that bug to the 100% infill setting.
