Re: Jonny's CNC portal mill

I absolutely love this, thanks for that and keep it coming! As you know, I'm designing a CNC router as well, so in fact all I'm doing at the moment is sitting back and nodding and saying: "Yup, get all my thinking done for me".

Re: Taulman Bridge Nylon

I print Bridge with the bed at 50C, and use UHU glue stick. Once the bed cools I can usually get the prints off using a penknife to lever it off.

Re: Preferred PLA filament in the UK

Oh, I wouldn't avoid cheap PLA entirely, especially if you are going to print a bunch of tests. I do a heck of a lot of that, and buy garbage ABS and PLA for that kind of thing. Most of my prints tend to end up in the bin, since they are there just for testing out various concepts for prototypes.

Re: 3DSolex upgrade parts

I can heartily recommend the I2K washer and TFT 255C coupler. If you can stretch to a "pimp" 40 watt heater, go fo it. You will really notice the difference, especially if you want to print ABS or other high temp materials quickly.

Re: Bending of complex prints

Nylon is incredible in that respect. Weirdest filament I have worked with. I really like it though, because where it works it outshines everything else.

Re: Preferred PLA filament in the UK

I don't use a great deal of PLA, but usually buy it from 3dfilaprint.com. I have tried cheap Ebay stuff, was not as happy as the 3Dfilaprint filament.

Re: Bending of complex prints

Attached. Many thanks in advance! Done. I tested it by bending it 270 degrees around 150 times. OK, my kids helped. Well, they really did most of the work. Come on, I bent it at least 20 times myself! You can't really tell that it has been bent at all. PM your address so I can send the print to you...

Re: Super hard nozzles - Test pilots

They are superb nozzles, but I'm crying because I managed to break mine, even though I was just using basic filaments like ABS, PLA and PETG :-(

Re: Bending of complex prints

Taulman Bridge is probably the easiest nylon to print, provided you keep it really dry, although that's not necessary during printing. It takes a while to dial in the temperatures, so you will need to experiment with that. Your other option is PETG, if you send me the file I can try it in my printer...

Re: Improved packaging from Colorfabb

I bought some really cheap garbage ABS that was well packaged, sealed in plastic with a silica bag, but when I printed it bubbled up something horrible. It was like printing with a hard foam. So I microwaved it for 30 seconds at a time until I saw the reel starting to warp. Then I microwaved some si...

Re: Cura 2.1.2

I have spend way too much time trying to get Cura 2.1.2 to do what I want, but have run out of time. I need single layer view, better profile management, and when in layer view every layer should remain persistent, by that I mean when moving from layer to layer, each layer should not have to be re-c...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Well a few updates on that frame and hub project... 1) I've pretty much given up on CF20. Good horizontal strength but terrible vertical. I did a few test pieces with 100% infill and I'm convinced they will snap and break if used in this project. (All the test ones did!) 2) nGen prints nice after a...

Re: Brexit! Whose next?

It's a symptom of the disconnect between the Eurocracy and the people. Anonymous people creating rules and regulations does not really sit very well anymore in the 21st century. Free trade makes a great deal of sense; throwing away your fishing for some greater good does not. There is a whole long l...
