Re: Autobed Leveling video from Tom
I have been thinking about building a large format printer, and my plan right now is to use tool probes like the one used on cnc machines to touch off the nozzle against, in combination with a brush to clean the nozzle. Something like this: http://cnc-plus.de/en/Router-Accessories/CNC-Tool-Length-Se...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
The print head is not sold as a assembly, so you would have to order all the separate parts as spares.
Price... no idea :p

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
Actually, Ultimaker told us specifically not to sell the 2+ feeder separately at the time of release of the 2+, it was only for warranty and service replacements, and they never sent a update that said it was OK for us to sell it separately to end customers, so our sales staff acted accordingly (sug...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
Is it a variable depth extrusion screw like the one in injection molding equipment or a regular auger type screw in the extruder?

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
@PeggyB, is that extruder working well? Is the output consistent and well controlled?
We are thinking about trying to build a large printer with a pellet extruder at Stockholm Makerspace and have not figured out exactly how yet

Re: Heater block replacement time?
The most important parts is as you say the TFM Coupler, the Rigid Spacer and the Olsson Block. It is a good idea to upgrade the fan shroud also, either to the 2+ one or by printing for example Labern's fan shroud, since that gives you much better part cooling. You don't really have to change the PT1...

If you just received them from 3DVerkstan i do think that we actually ship Misumi bearings nowadays. (but i am not in charge of spare parts, IRobertI knows this better)

Just send fbrc8 a email, they can definitely sell it to you as a spare part even if it is not listed on their website.

Yes, the nozzle size selector is mostly a way to load the correct profile.

Re: Heater block replacement time?
Yep, you should get a UM2+ fan shroud, a Olsson block, TFM coupler and the rigid spacer from the UM2+.
A alternative to the UM2+ fan shroud is printing Labern's fan shroud in a high-temp material, it even performs slightly better than the UM2+ metal shroud.

Re: Heater block replacement time?
Only change needed is to rotate the two lower black plastic pieces of the head by 90 degrees, and swap the top piece for this printed piece: https://www.youmagine.com/designs/um2-printhead-top-for-umo If you want to upgrade it further, look at @Neotko's "Beyond Sliderblocks" , which allows...

Re: Heater block replacement time?
@LePaul, it looks to me like you have the heated bed upgrade kit, if so, then you already have the 24V UM2 power supply, you just have to bypass the regulator on the extra pcb that regulates it down to 19(?)V, and add replace the motherboard regulator with the RECOM switched regulator as the one use...

Re: Heater block replacement time?
You do not require a motherboard upgrade to use the UM2 head, just a Pt100 amplifier, replacing the linear regulator on board with a switching one, and a small rewire to feed the controller board with 24V, so about 25$ or so. http://e3d-online.com/PT100-Amplifier-Board I have done this mod, it works...
