Where is the "either is fine" option?

Re: Discussion: Collaborative 3D model library
Not sure if it supports your CAD program, but I have used BOLTS in the past for some OpenSCAD designs.

Re: Reflective tape for protecting plastic parts?
If you use it, test that the glue of the tape can take the temperature. It should, but you never know...

Are they taking it that personal? Wow. I thought they are more confident about THEIR way. At least they didn't care about looking left and right in the past it seemed.

Re: Temperature analysis of PVA and Bridge Nylon
I am puzzled to hear that so many people complain about the blue PLA from UM. The one that came with my UM2 has produced some of the best prints I did with PLA.

Re: DNS Problems
The situation seems to have improved since you made the changes. These are the only two DNS outages that I could detect since then: Sat Feb 13 2016 19:55:01-20:02:01 Sun Feb 14 2016 08:22:01-08:25:02 Before the change it was much more. I think you could even increase the TTL to the default of 86400s...

I assume that the people that told you "you are splitting the community" have @ultimaker.com email addresses and are just afraid that you are splitting the community from their data mining social media ruin that they call a forum. I wouldn't give much on that.

Re: Ultimaker 2 pancake stepper direct drive
Interesting idea, but I am not sure that the space on top of the printhead would be large enough to operate a IRobertI feeder. I think it needs to be a slimmer design like the one from Anders.

Re: Ultimaker 2 pancake stepper direct drive
After seeing Anders' design, I started to build a version for my UM2 but since I lack the mechanical workshop, I thought to try it without modifying the motor shaft and using a more of the shelves knurled wheel. Unfortunately I do not just lack a mechanical workshop but also apparently the needed 3D...

I also never experienced that I had to re-login. Re: Modified Ultimakers group
I wouldn't differentiate too much. People will be unsure when to classify their mod as heavily modded and why not let other UMO owners see what might be useful mods for them too?

Re: Making PCBs with the Ultimaker 2?
I would not recommend using a 3D printer for milling. The whole mechanics can't provide the stability and torque for milling unless you plan to mill just Styrofoam. And on top the whole Ultimaker design will not withstand the dust and metal flakes long.

Re: Invite people!
I did setup a little script yesterday that tries to resolve the DNS name every minute. The DNS resolution did not work during these periodes (while other sites did not show any DNS issues): Fri Feb 12 2016 00:00 - 00:14 Fri Feb 12 2016 00:18 Fri Feb 12 2016 01:36 - 01:50 Fri Feb 12 2016 03:36 - 03:5...

There is even something like your pogo-pins with an M6 thread:

But I think the ball in those would not scrape enough off.
