Re: UM2 to UM2+ print head upgrade

The I2K was invented in an attempt to increase the lifespan of the early PTFE couplers and to increase the maximum operating temperature of the machines. With the TFM, the lifetime of the spacer increased dramatically compared to the earlier PTFE and glass filled PTFE. For normal printing (up to 260...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

@Anders Olsson what make of Woodfill are you using? I did struggle with Kai Pathy's wood fill although he did recommend a miniumum of 0.5mm nozzle, the modified Robert's feeder would grind the filament or deformed it as it was softer. although when I upgraded to the bondtech feeder it had enough pr...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Who said Woodfill can't handle retractions? :-P 2017-06-17-1808.jpg The only modifications I have done is a different feeder gear and another type of spring in the original UM2 feeder. Ambient temperature is 30 C and I am using a 0.6 mm nozzle. (0.4 mm nozzle just does not work with this spool of wo...

Re: How much should a good 3D printer cost?

There might be a market for a really high quality printer, but I doubt that you can produce and sell such printer for the same money as an UM3. Just have a look at E3D for example, the Bigbox printer was successfully developed and all their Kickstarter printers shipped and then they realized they ju...

Re: We Upgraded!

Hi Paul, I think it has a few glitches, The first is the main page, the icons are all the way across and interefering with the text as photo below, IMG_1179.PNG I had to clear my browser history to fix that (just reloading the page did not help) EDIT: The bug seems to be when I click on "home&...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Pff been so busy the last weeks... We built our house as a turnkey solution but I had no clue how much work remains after they are "finished" with it. Guys I need your advice: I'm demo'ing my 2 3D printers on a kids-tech-happening this weekend and the previous years I've always had them p...

Re: Cura 2.5. Why so messy?

Cura does all sorts of tricks to save printing time. What you see in your print is one of them which I think is not justified, since it saves very little time and the result is rather messy. It is called combing in old Cura and means that when the head has to move without printing, it moves over sur...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Coming soon...the Olsson Extruder? Well, if I had more time I would probably invent something, not sure when that time will show up though. I just wanted to test some concepts this time and get a feeling for what one can do with the metal printer. I still have a pancake stepper motor laying around ...

Re: Primer for new Ultimaker 3 users?

You should definitely print a calibration print and adjust the offset before doing anything else. Apart from that, I would expect it to work okay with the latest firmware. PVA is tricky though as mentioned. You will need a bit more patience with the UM3 by the way, certain things are really slow com...

Looking forward to reading this. How's baby?
