Re: Not enough material extruding before print

Yes, the last versions of the tinkergnome has an elusive bug that makes the printer stop every now and then. I hope they can find it soon, because it is a great firmware apart from that. Installing 15.04ex from old Cura should be safe though, just upgrade the firmware with new Cura before you return...

Re: Not enough material extruding before print

I just checked my UM2E, which does NOT suffer from this issue (at least not with files sliced in Cura 15.04, but as I recall it it works as it should with Cura 2.x too). It is running on the 15.04ex firmware, so you could try that. When thinking about it I probably only had this issue after upgradin...

Re: Not enough material extruding before print

I have also had that issue, but only on the UM2Go as I can remember. As I remember it only happened at first print after power cycling? I have a feeling that it is related to Cura rather than the firmware as I was playing with Cura 2.x when the issues happened. Then I went back to Cura 15.x and the ...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

I have been very busy lately, it felt like I was getting nowhere past month while things were just piling up on my desk. Managed to get some things finished past week though, so the situation appears to be a bit more under control now. We finally managed to publish the article where the development ...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Yes it is that one, just pick one up next time you are at Gränby :-) It works for all materials I have tested so far except flexible FEP (that is a horrible material and only prints on extremely hot clean glass) and POM (that does not stick to anything) The glue included with my UM2 was quite useles...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

Regarding XT and glass chipping. I had that problem when printing on clean glass, but after I started applying Tesa Easy Stick glue on the platform the glass has survived. It appears that the Tesa glue limits the adhesion so that the printed part comes off the grass before it risks chipping. I alway...

Re: Bondtech BMG

I agree with Neotko, the BMG is still too heavy in my opinion. All these new feeders suffer from being based on a motor that is as common and cheap as possible, which is understandable but not optimal considering those motors are rather heavy. Just as Neotko, I concluded that the extra weight on the...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

To my surprise I actually did not find anything wrong with the stepper or the stepper driver, tested both motors with both drivers. Optionally, both my motors could be crappy, since neither of them is new. Found another unrelated cause though, which explained why the problems were so severe before I...

Ultimaker removes second extruder driver on UM2 series.

Just thought it might be good to announce this here, although there is already a post on the Ultimaker forum. As some of you might know, Ultimaker has taken the unfortunate decision to no longer mount the stepper driver for the second extruder : https://ultimaker.com/en/community/39608-warning-ultim...

Re: Firmware Upgrade!

That is a lot of improvements in one upgrade, certainly good news for all Ultimaker 3 owners! I am happy to see how Ultimaker has shifted focus lately. It is much more about listening to the customers and getting things done now and much less about arguing whether the customer is right or not. Look ...

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day

I am trying to sort out "the underextrusion problems from hell" on my UM2Go. :-( Changed nozzle, TFM, bowden, filament and firmware so far with no luck. Tried repeatedly to feed filament by hand and the pressure required does not appear excessive, so there must be something wrong with the ...

Re: Cura 2.5 sneak preview

- Faster slicing (~2x as fast). Cura is now multithreaded in certain strategic places. There is still quite a bit of room for improvement, but it's getting there. - Disable auto slicing. - Much faster (~10x as fast) project saving & loading Nice work, slicing really is MUCH faster now! :-) I te...

Re: Interesting... E3D Titan Aero

Well it is starting to look decent I would say, although now it is essentially an Makerbot hotend/feeder with a gear on it ;-) It would be interesting with a higher gear ratio and a smaller/lighter stepper. The motor in the pictures is still huge in my opinion. That size stepper motor is probably th...

Re: $99 printer, whuuuut

ONO actually released a video a few weeks ago which suggests that it is possible to some extent to use a mobile phone screen for curing resin to form a 3D-structure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7VPUtaFAn0&feature=youtu.be Tiko, as I talked about earlier, on the other hand have now halted th...

Re: Printer stopped?

What firmware are you running?
What did the display show?

Printers using recent versions of the tinkergnome firmware sometimes does this, although I am starting to suspect that it is some more general issue.
Here is a long thread about this: https://github.com/TinkerGnome/Ultimake ... /issues/56
