I would check your settings between Cura versions. When printing from Cura, all it is doing is sending the gcode to Octoprint. You need to first figure out what Com port your printer shows up as. When you plug it in, it will show up in Windows Device Manager as a COM port (i.e. COM3). Then you can set Cura to use that port to connect to your printer.

For reformatting the Octopi SD cards (or any USB devices that have been graced with Linux), it is recommended to use the HP USB Format Utility.
