Re: Regenerating drying bags

Looks like ~140C in the owen is appropriate. And unless you have a lot of bags it won't take long to dry them.

(Now I just wished that I had saved all those tiny bags I've thrown away all these years...)

Re: PTFE coupler - Theory and practical details

So by changing from a spring to this printable "spacer" the UM2 printhead with an Olsson Block, it is basically the only thing you need to have a printhead with minimal maintenance for most "normal" consumer filaments?

Yup, plastic is plastic even if it is injection molded.

Thanks for your input. It's always nice to get input from someone who has tried what you want to do :)

Re: ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fiber Filament

I wouldn't expect it to be strong enough to build a big car that you race hard in terrain. For that I don't think there is anything available for consumer 3D-printing yet. But some smaller models, and prototypes, that are more just for fun I hope can be done this way.

Re: Regenerating drying bags

Yes, it' possible to re-use them. I used to work at a power plant where we used silica gel in large quantities to make sure that water didn't build up in some of the oil cooled transformers. And now and then we had to dry them up and re-use them. We just placed them on a tray in a regular oven and t...

Re: ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fiber Filament

Thanks for sharing your findings so far. My main use case would be using CF-20 for playing with R/C stuff. I didn't really expect the carbon fibers to produce a lot of additional strength since, as you mention, it only contains small fibers. I need to put this filament on my to-do list to try once i...

Re: Feedback...how's it look?

I don't experience the same behavior. If I click a link it opens in a new tab, which is active. But if I ctrl-click the same link it opens up in a new tab, that is not active. That's how it works in any other forum I visit and I don't see any different behavior here. I'm using Safari on OS X, and Ch...

Re: Ultimaker Original+ Extended custom build at Stockholm Makerspace

Depending on the cost for the wooden enclosure, I would guess that the cost for this will be in the same ballpark as the alu-extrusion UM2 (& extended) that you can find on Thingiverse.

Re: ColorFabb XT-CF20 Carbon Fiber Filament

What's your take on the strength of XT-CF20? I know they printed a bike, but other tests I have seen seems to indicate that it isn't that strong when compared to other filaments. So I haven't been able to understand if this filament really is strong or if it just has a nice look and some other impro...

Nope, didn't see that. Never seen it hidden like that before. But it was exactly what I wanted :)

Unread posts in the whole forum

Would it be possible to have a link to all unread posts in the forum? In some forum there is such a link in the top navigation where you can easily see all new posts without browsing.
It would be handy when browsing "on the go" :)

Re: UMO / UMO+ Firmware

Thanks for the input. I have so far only taken a brief look at the code trees for the different firmwares so it's nice to get input from someone with more insight :) I can understand that Marlin at it's current state is pretty rough since they are still putting out RC's. But once the stable version ...
