Re: UMO / UMO+ Firmware
That won't work, you can't enqueue commands like that, the circular buffer is way to small

Re: Several years worth of UMO hacks
The TMC definitely outperforms the Allegro drivers.
I am going to upgrade my UMO as it is an easy and not that expensive update on the 1.5.x boards, but I am not sure I would throw away teh 2.X board from my UMO+ just for the stepper drivers...

Re: Several years worth of UMO hacks
This is not very different from the other ones...
None of them are protected against back-emf.
They do native 256 microsteps and can be configured via UART.
Now for standard 16 micosteps (or interpolated) the 2100 are good as well...

Re: Ultimaker Brand PLA
To come back on the LePaul issue, my take is that your spool is at the higher limit of diameter tolerance, and if your coupler is not in top condition you will get under extrusion. I had in the past a lot of problems with Ultimaker white PLA, and only with that one. After I replaced the coupler, all...

Yes, that's what I do to import step files...
I don't know if there is a practical limit, but you can upload quite a lot at once...

Re: Why the UMO has fans on electronics?
No risk for the board.
Worst case is that the fan could die as it gets 19v instead of 12v, but if it is running now it will probably continue to survive.
The head cooling fan on the UMO is also a 12V powered by 19V and they typically last very long

Re: Why the UMO has fans on electronics?
Yes, you need to check the fan, it might not survive long with 19 volts
I just received a 1.5.7 as well to replace my old 1.5.3 so I checked all the board diagrams for differences, that's how I came on this fan thing...

Re: Why the UMO has fans on electronics?
Also if you are running at 24v it will make even more noise ;) BTW, to put that in context, some board history here: On the 1.5.3/1.5.4 boards the LM7812 is only used to deliver 12V to the electronics fan. On 1.5.6 it is used to power both the electronics and the Arduino And eventually on 1.5.7, it...

Re: Documentation on how to use the {<name>}-variables in Cura 15.* G-Code?
You can look at the source here ... It extends the string Formatter class to parse the start/end GCode and replace any Cura parameter found in it. It passes the complete settings dictionary to the formatter (see _buildGlobalSettingsMessage()) so it looks like there are a gazillion possibilities ;) I...
