Cura 15.04.6

Post by Roberts_Clif »

Is there a reason why Cura 15.04.6 will not generate a Support for the attached link model mask_middle_v1.stl

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4242337

I would appreciate any help in setting Up Cura 15.04.6 supports for the above model.

Thank You

Hi,
I believe 15.04.6 is a very old version of Cura and is no longer supported. The current version is I think 4.7.1. The version numbering changed about the time I started 3D printing so do not know the reason for the new vs old numbering scheme.

Hi @Roberts_Clif,

I just had alook at the link you posted and couldn't find a mask_middle_v1.stl there. I found a "Scorpion_-_corona_respirator_-_filter_middle.stl" which seems to have a flat bottom and no supports needed and a "Scorpion_-_corona_respirator_-_mask.stl" which I tested - I also still have a version of 15.04.6 installed, just in case ;) - and for me it generated supports for that file. Attached a screenshot of the layer view that shows the supports and a second screenshot that shows the settings used. Machine is a UM2 with Olsson Block.

Best regards,
Reiner

To all who helped Thank You.

What I found was on " Ultimaker Community of 3D Printing Experts " posted by Labern " you can change the x-y distance "
Started to Play with the Distance X/Y (mm) found that a change from 0.7 to 0.8 was all it took now I have supports in Cura 15.04.6.

Well glad you found the answer....but also curious why you'd opt to run the 2017(?) version of Cura?

Cura 15.04.6 is a tried and true Slicer, it works every time for me.
Sometimes I have problems with newer Version of Cura above Version 3.6.

Working with Slic3r a lot more now that I have found the secret settings for the slicer.
