CAD for a 12 year old

Post by Lez0 »

Can anyone recommend a 3D CAD system that easy to use for a 12 year old.
He is getting a 3D printer and will need to able to do his own models.
The lad will probably be some sort of Engineer, poor kid (Dilbert).
He will have the joy of learning to 3D print first, then he'll be looking to advance.
It doesn't have to be able to do complex shapes, just easy to use, also if possible be in Spanish.
I have been using Solidworks too long to be able to judge other CAD systems, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Here is TinkerCad it is a simple online 3D modeling program.
This is as simple a grabbing predefined solid or hollow shaped objects.
Sizing the object adding a solid or hollow cone or any other shape merging to add or remove feature until you shape the object you desire.

When He outgrows this which should not take long, he can choose from many Free Cad Programs.
My favorite is Fusion 360 Free
For information on how to Register Free read here
They say it has a learning curve, thou doesn't everything. With You-Tube Video's for every possible Command teaching him Fusion 360.
I am sure he will pick it up in know time, This Sensor citizen learned this never before used program building this Controller case.

Thank you LePaul.

Wow this 13 Video series will be interesting to watch, now that I already have grasped the basic Fusion 360 Concepts.
Who knows maybe can learn something I missed from my unorthodox way of teaching myself.

After watching the first video, What I really want to learn is how he so easily manipulates the Video feed like a News Broadcast.
Please PM any information you may have

Thanks all.
He is starting to use TinkerCAD. It does look easy to use.
No doubt when he outgrows this he'll know what he wants to use.

Try SelfCAD. SelfCAD believes that 3D CAD software, in addition to being intuitive and easy to use, should still include advanced tools for modeling, sculpting, and preparation for 3D printing, to ensure that the design process is as real-world and authentic as possible and presents no barriers to creativity.
