Printer printing where it shouldn’t

Post by darkrogue »

Has anyone encountered this issue

My printer is filling in parts of my mesh that it shouldn’t.
I made a part that was designed to have a hole in it but for some reason the printer keeps filling that hole in. I tried printing without struts and still it filled it in. I have no idea why. :-|

Would be easier to answer your question with pictures to give us an ideal what we need to see.
Normally when you have a hole that is being filled in, is because the outer shape was created as a solid.

Post images and give more details, this would greatly help us in solving the design with a hole being a solid...

unfortunately, I don't have a pic of the print gone bad. once it was done I wound up drilling out the extra material but here is a pic of the blend itself.

that rounded area is supposed to be a hollowed-out portion of the print but it keeps filling with pla, no matter how i orient the print

A 3D printer should only print where you have placed your model on the board in the 3D software. This is a hardware issue for sure.

Can you show a screen capture of the Model sliced, I assume you are using supports everywhere an showing the supports will show this.

When using Prusaslicer you can add a modifier that you use can to tell the slicer not to add supports around the holes.

If you need help we can help you get it setup.
