We Upgraded!

Post by LePaul »

We are now running the latest version of phpBB (3.2.0)

The newest version came out several months ago and I have been watching the support site to see if this was ready to be deployed. It's quite stable so we have finally made the plunge.

In the world of web software you like to stay up to date.

Right now I am checking the configuration settings to make sure things still work.

There are a number of extensions we utilized that have not upgraded to the latest version. As a result, those have had to be disabled. When the developers upgrade, I will work on putting those extensions back in.

Please be sure to clear your cache to make sure you are not seeing any old artifacts. (It happened to me!)

I will update this post as I find any issues. Please let me know if you spot issues too.

MediaEmbed is upgraded. Video links that previous displayed in a player might look like a link for now. The system should be re-parsing them into the video previews we are used to

Open Links In a New Page has been upgraded and works!

User Map has been abandoned and I don't see a suitable replacement

Same story with "Give Thanks" to a post. I'm still looking.

Fixed the templates for Private Message notifications

Most mail servers will flag a message that says "New Private Message" as spam immediately. Changed that to just say "New Message"

Hi Paul,
I think it has a few glitches,
The first is the main page, the icons are all the way across and interefering with the text as photo below,
IMG_1179.PNG
Also do we have a guide to what all the different icons are and mean?
The other glitch is the drop down menus, I can seem to get ride of the drop downs in some areas, I clear one drop down for another to automatically open, sometimes the same one as at the moment the quick links. :-?
I'm not complaining I know you work hard for the site, so step away from the keyboard and stroke molly. :-D

I had to clear my browser history to fix that (just reloading the page did not help)

EDIT: The bug seems to be when I click on "home" to get back to the main page.
As long as I avoid that, for example by clicking on "Board index" instead it seems to work.

Experienced the Same perplexing screen. Thought the world wide web was messing up again, or maybe just a quirk.

Did a google search for 3D Printing Forum, and re-saved the bookmark and it starting working again.

I noticed the same after doing the database upgrade. I thought I really messed up but everything was backed up. (The system does a daily backup each morning)

I have no issues using Home

I did make another change to the CSS stylesheet that they advised. Ivan ran into an odd issue where all the menus were open by default. That should be fixed

Has the font size changed or did we have a "old guy with bad eyes" setting that I had selected and that is now gone? Even at 120% magnification in the browser every font looks smaller than before the upgrade...

The "first experience" is the same for me too...way smaller font than the old one...borderline to requiring a magnifying glass. Could not find any user-configurable settings for it...so I guess we are at the mercy of what the browser allows us to do.

But that is the only "negative" thing i've come across so far... :)
