I saw that and the only thing I could think of was the pnuematic like ones I have seen used for CR-10 and when people create their own anti-moisture enclosures for nylon filaments, etc

Although the new Ultimaker forum is better...I don't think that it's a "revival"...there isn't much tinkering going on in any of these forums anymore.

Myself, i'm so busy with life that writing about what i'm doing rarely happens...but i'm in the process of building my #nextprinter with my son...some updates happens here:

I don't know about you guys but all I seem to see lately is GPL and how several of these China-printers using Marlin are in violation...

China has never really cared about open source, or "rules" in general. They have their own understanding of economy:
Words like "patented" or "protected" don't really mean anything over there.

China can charge less when they never spend money designing, they make 2nd grade disposable garbage.

Now why is everyone buying so much. Because we are over spent and cannot afford the really good quality products.

We do not have enough time to research every product purchased, for violations.
If you really look deep you may find that there are truly few new ideals, and most ideals are taken from another.

We need to stop buying from any companies who violates GNU General Public License. This would include companies like Microsoft.

https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft ... e-license/
http://techie-buzz.com/microsoft/micros ... g-gpl.html

OK OK OK, so I know this is never going to happen, we are going to purchase what we can afford.

FORGIVE ME FOR THIS RANT..........FAKE PRODUCTS AND GNU VIOLATIONS - LIKE FAKE NEWS WILL ALWAYS BE HERE!!!!!!!!!

Well here's my thing....

The same guys who produced reviews saying how awesome the CR-10 was, had affiliate links/codes and made a lot of money from it...are now suddenly outraged that the Chinese are being...well...the Chinese. They scam other people's designs (i.e. lot's of E3D "clones", etc), they replicate and flood the market with their copy cat/cheap products....and these guys who have profited so greatly are acting outraged? No...it's YouTube. They are chiming in on the latest buzz to generate their views. I see 3D Printing Nerd removed his links...but that strikes me as taking the sales signs down after a big sale. Is he going to give back the money he made? Now THAT would impress me

Will the Chinese play by the GPL now? I'm sure they will. How many printer sales has this little controversy affected? Probably not many

I mean, until this week, was that a key decision point for anyone buying a printer? No...

Exactly
They sent me Marlin Source however could never get it to work, had to get a working version here from Chip, Thanks Again Chip.
They replaced all broken parts under warranty with working replacements. Better than some local companies.

I "assisted" my better half while she unboxed and assembled the Tevo Tornado....

(Mini review - Eh...It's a basic CR-10 with an AC bed. That's it for features. Doesn't even include sample filament or a spool holder! Leveling the bed is a mess since the screw spins while you try to adjust the knob. The appeal is that it's cheap...$350 or so...but you have to upgrade everything to match the CR-10 level of usefulness. So...I would debate how great it is for an absolute beginner. But a bit of a bargain if you have some experience with a CR-10 and making improvements on it)
