Peachy Printer...

Post by Meduza »

Well, i were very sceptical to this project from the start... and now they disclose another reason of why they now are broke and cant ship anything to their backers. (one of the former company founders used the kickstarter money to build his house...)

Unfortunately this is not the only example of failures to deliver on Kickstarter. While on the whole it's a good idea and a great way of getting backing, some do use it to defraud others.

Yes, it's the dark side of Kickstarter and this is what keeps me away from backing any project there. I'd rather wait for the final release and pay a bit more.

I have backed two or three campaigns up to now on kickstarter and all of them delivered what they promised. But I only backed cheaper items with less complexity. I assume there is more foul play in the areas with complex and very innovative ideas. From what I saw, it seems that the area of 3D printers and drones have a fairly bad track record.

I've backed 80 projects to date and most of them have delivered. I do notice a trend with the more complex technical items lately though. It seems that the people don't do enough research in advance for larger quantities and so on (or enough research tout court).
I won't back a project anymore unless they are up to the prototype stage and seem to have everything in order (I do way more research than I used to before I back something more expensive)

His math is interesting...I didn't know they had so much more revenue than shared
