Cleaning nozzles after removing?

Post by LePaul »

I am curious...what is the best way to clean up the remaining PLA stuck in the nozzle after you remove it? (Using the Ultimaker 2 remove filament method and while it does a good job, there's still stuff in there)

I usually do a cold pull before switching nozzles, works fine most of the time.

I always do an atomic pull clean when switching nozzles, you should be able to reinsert it and do the clean.

For some filaments the cold pulls do not work properly (actually for everything except PLA). So I leave it in the nozzle. But I rarely use the unload procedure from the printer as then I get a strain (not true for Woodfill). Heating up the cold retracted material to 85-100°C and pulling it out leaves an amount of filament left in the nozzle but not in the heater block.

I know how I do it (manually) on the UMO is vastly different than the UM2+

I wonder, on the UM2+, what temp it retracts the filament?

With the change temperature of the currently selected filament. It can be or is defined in the material list.
