Marlin manual Bed leveling Leveling increment tweaking

Post by pochrist »

Using a Makerfarm Pegasus 8 which in turn is Using Marlin Firmware 1.x, trying to improve my accuracy and was wondering if there is a way to tweak my setting for the manual leveling process.

When performing a manual bed level, when i turn the knob the x carriage moves up or down at .5mm increments (I think) is there anyway i can lower the number to .25mm or .1mm.

Perhaps I'm being anal, but I like to be as close to possible when running the process.

Thanks

Are you looking for
#define MBL_Z_STEP 0.025 // Step size while manually probing Z axis.

Perhaps, is this line already in the Marlin Config.h or am I adding it? Conversely is there a way to do it via Pronterface and gcode commands?

I found it in all versions of marlin 1.1.x that I have programmed for My 3D Printers.

I do not know of a way maybe, someone else will know.

If its of any use I redesigned an Auto Bed Leveling Sensor Mount. Unlike the 3 part assembly thats on Thingiverse, my one is only a two part and fits the linear bearing housing perfectly.

If I get the time I guess I should upload the files onto Thingiverse as its easy to fit and adjust.

The print beds on 3D printers aren’t always perfectly flat. Sometimes you can get lucky and get a pefectly flat surface to print on, but considering the materials the bed is made out of and the constantJT whatsapp heat cycling, it’s more likely that you’ll have to deal with at least some warping.

Mesh Bed Leveling
There are few options for compensating for a warped bed, but I chose to use Mesh Bed Leveling because it didn’t require any extra hardware or tools.

This does require building a custom configuration for Marlin.

At a minimum, enable mesh bed leveling in Configuration.h:

Specifically, you have to make sure the frame is rigid, especially the portion that supports the Y axis guide rails, and use a flat plate.

I will suggest you adjust the probe points, select the bed leveling method, and give access to the configuration. I think this will work enough.
