Reprap Discount Smart Controller.

Post by Roberts_Clif »

Have a Reprap Discount Smart Controller.
Finding that If the SD card is plugged in when the 3D Printer boots it works, when the SD card is inserted while running it fails.

I believe that for some reason the SD card inserted fails only when the 3D Printer is already powered on,

Further testing it appears that on my Controller SD inserted properties is always on.
Therefore it does not know the SD Card was removed or replaced.
When it is booted SD card is read properly, when the SD card is removed it get confused and cannot re-read the SD card.

I need to determine what means they use to test for a SD Inserted

Thinking About replacements for my RepRap Discount Smart Displays,

1. Reprap Ramps V1.4 LCD 2004 Display
2. RAMPS 1.4 RepRap 12864 LCD Display Smart Controller
3. 3.5" Smart Touch Screen - 3D Printer Display, MKS,LCD

Now if I decide to change from the original RepRap Discount Smart 2004 LCD will need to do a firmware update.
This will also require a new LCD 3D Printed case to hold the new Display.

Would appreciate any comments from all members of forum to help me make the best possible decision.
I like the ideal of upgrading to a touch screen or a full graphics display.
Though I would like comments PROS and CONS on touch screens and full graphics displays compatible with my
Ramps 1.4 3D Printer controller using EXP1 and EXP2 ribbon cables.

Hope to see some really good information in your posts.
