Hictop 3dp-17 Both thermistors reading 0

Post by garfield30 »

Hi,

I have what I think is a very strange issue. It all started when I upgraded the firmware on my printer because the stock firmware it came with had issues. I don't believe it is the firmware as this was provided by another owner of a 3dp-17 printer and it works fine for him and others.

The problem I have is at some point while I was leveling the bed the thermistors started reporting strange values. The bed read 0 and the hotend read 150 at room temperature. After some investigating and help from the guy I got the firmware from, I decided it was the controller board that was at fault so I decided to replace it and see what happened. I replaced it and for 10 minutes all worked fine, both temperatures were reading correctly and I was happy. Then I leveled the bed again and now both temperatures read 0 at room temp. I am pulling out my hair over this one. I'm even considering a smoothieboard if I can't get this one working again.

If anyone has any suggestions of what I could try please help. Alternatively I'm open for suggestions of other controller boards. I just want my printer working again :(

Thanks

I've checked the power connections and the plugs. What was strange was that the problem went away when I changed the boards but came back. I appreciate it sounds like a loose connection or broken cable but I can't see anything wrong.

I've checked with a multimeter and both thermistors are between 6 & 8 ohms at room temperature. I hope that sounds right it's been years since i've done this kind of thing. As I understand it though with this type of thermistor the resistance drops the hotter it gets. If that's the case and these are reading normal values, which I suspect they are as it worked for that short period, could it be a software issue rather than hardware?
