Printing with 0.8 nozzles

Post by LePaul »

Well this one has me a bit stumped.

I know with larger nozzles, you need capable heaters and an increase in temp

I have two machines that print marvelously with 0.4 nozzles. E3D Hemera on one machine , Slice on the other.

When I installed the 0.8 nozzle on each, I made nominal changes to the slicer settings, first layer 220C and 215 for the rest.

I am suspicious of my material, so that's in the dryer now.

But what is happening is that the first layer doesn't stick or curls up. I know my bed surface is good, as is my z offset. Layer height is 0.2

So I have answered my own question

A good (thick) first layer, like 2/3 the nozzle diameter helped a lot. A little babystepping too

Do you think the bed needs heating?

I always run the bed at 60C or PLA :)
