I'm really curious about nGen.
One of my fellow BB-8 builders discovered that, left in the sun, some of his PLA parts could get pretty soft...so many of us are thinking a different material!

On a hot sunny day PLA does go a little soft, nGen on paper should be better it is nice to print with, the other option is to look at their HT materials, I've not tried them yet as they released them after I ordered my last batch of sample materials, and at the moment the postage is expensive.

I belive you guys should do fine with nGen, no need to go to extremes with HT

Yeah so my day yesterday was awesome... actually not so much.
I dropped a butchers knife of the kitchen counter and it fell "perfectly", as in de sharp side horizontally down. Since we have floor heating here, we usually walk around barefooted. Think you can already guess where this is headed. The blade hit my foot at the base of my big toe. It wasn't a big cut length wise (about 2cm) but it went to the bone and sliced one of the 2 tendons.
So hospital, surgery, the whole shebang. Have a cast now to immobilise the toe for about 10 days and can't walk on it. After that another 3 weeks with a regular cast. What an awesome weekend. I have plenty of - some more some less - gruesome pictures but I guess no one wants to see those

@Blizz: Get well soon! Can't you 3D print something that makes recovery faster or at least your life a bit easier?

There must have been an easier way of getting a few days off work to play with your printer!

, take it easy and hope it recovers soon and remember no alcohol with your meds.

Funny thing is... they start on the ground works in our garden tomorrow and I was thinking about taking the day off

But this wasn't on purpose, nor is it what I had in mind

As a matter of fact i was looking into designing something like
this cast-scratcher to print (it's less than a day old and it's itching badly already) but I don't really know how to best handle it. Need more than the 20cm length the UM2 can provide and it should be strong. Would be even worse if it breaks
Neotko wrote:Holy ss... that must hurt like hell!
Yeah it really does, constant throbbing. But as long as I don't move around too much it's bearable. To be honest, the stupidity hurt more :-/

If you have some chopsticks design a scratcher to fit on the end of one, should be small and long enough to do the trick

That's a heck of a weight loss plan, removing body parts!
Seriously. Ouch!
Three years ago I was working on R2's new frame. I was trying to twist a threaded rod and heard a pop. I figured that was the machine screw loosening. Nope. That was the ligament between my thumb and index finger tearing apart. I went to the emergency room thinking I sprained or broke a bone. The doctor moved my thumb in directions it shouldn't go! Next thing I know I'm scheduled for surgery the following morning and that will take four hours. Then the cast from fingertip to elbow for six weeks. (During summer!).
I feel your pain!

I hope you feel better soon. Take care, and dont move more than you need.
There are orthoses that can be printed, but they are all for upper limbs, unfortunately.

I'm finding the days go quickly as I prepare for a 3-day John WIlliams Concert this weekend. This is the 3rd time I have been asked to participate in their show and a majority of the soundtracks being played will be from Star Wars. I love being involved with the symphony orchestra (90 piece!) and asked to provide R2-D2 to be on stage. Of course, I have nightmares of remote controls and receivers failing...which has never happened...but still, you try to prepare for the worst! The shows are in Portland (Maine) which is 2 hours south of me.
One of these days, all of these travels should be for a vacation
