Got a crazy idea today when I was in the garage with Jr

Anyone knows a good F1-replica steering wheel that can be printed? Or some similar cool steering wheel?

As long as it's a not too much fkd up step file, I can make a printable STL for you. I just searched "F1 steering wheel" on grabcad (there's other models as well).

/edit: The one I linked seems very nice. It's already split up into parts, just need to slice it in halves so you get good surfaces all around. Can be done in 10 minutes.
And you probably want some interface to mount it to a "steering bar" (insert correct word) which is another easy 10 minutes

Not too complicated...yet it's cool and "high-tech". The ones I found so far were too complex.

If you could slice it and make STLs it would be great...I still have Fusion 360 on my backlog to learn.

Okay, will do that. The Mercedes star isn't part of the model (guess it's a texture in the pic).
Do you want me to put a logo on the model? Which one?

Tell me if there's any special requirements for mounting the wheel. Otherwise I'd just make something up...

Right now the existing steering wheel is fastened using an M10 rod straight through...but it isn't secure enough as the steering wheel can get loose (it was a quick hack). So I need something better...I lack proper tooling for large metal works...but I have a small welder so I can do minor things. But for this I think that drilling and putting a lock-screw in the nut that secures it to the rod so it won't slip will be good enough...or I will just weld it in place

What about a 10 mm hole straight through the steering wheel with an standard M10 nut pattern in the back that slips over the nut that is secured to the rod? I think that will be good enough for this...and easy for you to make. Then I could just create a logo that covers the nut...based on what they would like to have...and they can change their minds without me having to print a full steering wheel again

Maybe a tad bit smaller...say 250 mm wide instead of 300.

Self-tapping screws like that should be doable to find over here...haven't looked before...if not I can find similar screws that should be ok.

Things got a bit out of hand, but time goes by so quickly when you draw stuff

Btw, make sure to check the handles' durability before your kids go downhill in the soapbox car. I don't know if these puzzle bosses were a good idea... Oh, and you have to put the handles together first, insert them and then assemble the center piece. But shouldn't be too hard to figure out once you got everything in hand.

/edit:
About the steering bar: I would weld or epoxy-glue the top M10 nut to the threaded rod. The lower nut will secure the assembly, but you can't tighten it enough to be really secure because the plastic parts would just crush.
You might also want to epoxy-glue the steering bar to the "Center part feature 1" piece in order to prevent wiggle. I might have gotten the tolerance a bit too loose. Making a good press-fit is difficult without having the parts in hand.
