A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
With a smile at the original @UMforums, come in, have some tea, and tell us about your day!
I'm currently trying to print the heart gear hand crank for valentine: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:253934
Some of you might have seen my cry for help @UMforum. I've been using that feedback now to try to get it to work. We'll find out soon enough Otherwise I might open a topic here

Wow, that's a pretty complex jumble of moving parts! How far along are you into it?

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
Interesting, I have been thinking about printing that heart many times, but there were alway more urgent things in line.
Maybe now would be a good opportunity, while testing newly manufactured nozzles
I had a busy day at work. 3D-printing is really finding it's way into the University now days and I tend to end up in the center of attention all the time. That is fun of course, but it tends to adds on top of my normal tasks, which means my to-do-list is rather long now.
It is really exciting that people in general starts to recognize 3D-printing as something useful now though

I work at a University (Software Analyst) and the advanced materials lab and a few of the fabricating labs are deep into it.
Last time I was there they were using something...not sure what...but it was essentially powdered metal glued layer by later.
I really want a much bigger printer for the many Prop drawings I have.

Bweurk I don't like thea But I'll just join you guys at the table for a chat.
I've printed the non-cranked version of that about a year ago. Lots of work, but very rewarding when you show it to people. It does tend to be very "droppable" (as in: If you don't know how to hold it when moving the gears it has the tendency to jump out of your hands). So in that fashion I think the cranked variant might be better.
Was planning on ordering a spool of CF-XT20 at ColorFabb for my (hopefully) soon to arrive micro drone 3. How are the experiences with that material? Any best practices that you guys can share?

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
Damn, I just realized that I forgot to pick up the PVA-filament from the oven at work where it had been drying over night.
I hope it can take another 24 hours of drying at 80 C, it should be super dry by tomorrow

A little bit of Mead (Honey wine) and some pancakes with lemon juice and syrup. Followed by a bit of OpenSCAD, & some Youtube

You must consume a lot of coffee to keep running at all hours of the day

Re: A Tea between friends :-) How was Your Day
Nope, I had to sleep eventually
I am not drinking that much coffee actually, it is more like staying at the minimum level that keeps caffeine abstinence away..
In the afternoon I recalled that the PVA filament was still in the oven at 80 C
After 50 hours instead of the planned 20 hours it indeed feels very dry, will be interesting to test it when I get home
The smiley's are enormous now by the way
