New User Post Limit (Mods please read)
From time to time, we get hit with waves of spam posts.
It's been like that again for a couple days.
I've set the New User access from 2 posts to 0, meaning their posts need to be approved.
I'm not 100% how this will work but let's give it a try.
Anti Spam options are usually compromised before they are implemented so....it's just the nature of the beast.
Feedback welcome

Re: New User Post Limit (Mods please read)
Hi Paul,
I am not sure if the change worked as I still see spam posts from accounts with two or less posts.
Best regards,
Reiner

If you take a look at the Off-topics board, there are currently twelve posts that I deleted just in the last 5 hours... I did not delete them permanently in case you want to take look at them. Normally I use the "permanent" checkbox when I delete them.

What I am seeing in those is they registered before I kicked over the setting. So they have been in the board since November but now just posted.
I'm curious how that's happening.
And annoyed.

Alright, just purged out 1,500 "inactive users" and I'll keep an eye on it.
Fingers crossed

It is still not working for whatever reason I deleted 10 more today. All in Off-topics.
And I did not see any requests for moderation. It is unclear to me how they get in...

I mean....we all want more users and traffic here on the forum....but not THAT kind of stuff!
I've turned off a few thigs, like signatures and other items those that sneak in tend to use

Re: New User Post Limit (Mods please read)
I have only been online occasionally (usually in the mornings while waiting for my coffee to be ready). When I am on, I do a sweep and delete a LOT of spam (at least before the holidays). I did just see a spam post in a PM, which was very odd. Deleted it already though.

However work now is very far and few between worked 2 or 3 days last month and expect about the same this month.
Now I am here always here.
