Joining Team Resin...bought a Voxelab Proxima

Well let's see how this goes...

I bought the Voxelab Proxima based on many peer suggestions.

I also bought the Elegoo Mercury Plus 2 in 1 Wash & Curing Station.

I have been advised that resin likes warmer temps for use and printing. The shop is 65F and a friend mentioned I might want to be a bit warmer.

For cleaning, it looks like 90% IPA is still the top pick. Denatured Alcohol (done in the garage) does excellent too, but very high in fumes.

I bought Elegoo Resin as many people commented it wasn't smelly.

My hopes is that this can print some excellent things like fan ducts, mounts and other things where FDM/FFF struggles.

But I'm certain the amazing details these offer will manage to print a few figurines too :)

Welcome to resin printing
The Voxelab Proxima looks a nice printer and at a good price.
Is your garage well ventilated, or are you planning to put in extraction?
In winter I put the tray of resin on the radiator to warm it up before printing as my garage gets cold. I have printed when the temp has been down to around 10°C using this method without any problems.
I look forwad to seeing your prints.
Good luck.

It arrived!

I notice the suggested resin temps are 20C (70F) and my home stays around 66F
I will need to put the resin printer and cure station in a spare bedroom and plug in the electric room heater to boost the temp a bit!

Don't forget to make sure the room is well ventilated. I don't know how important this is, but it's what they say.
I can't wait to see you first prints, good luck.

I have to admit my printer got a bit messy to start with, until I got used to the process. Especially as I had some failed prints to start with.
You could always put central heating in the garage, it will keep the cats warm.

The cats stay indoors, so they are spoiled in that regard

I just received a package from Wham Bam, having bought their Slap Mat

Still trying to figure out where to build an area to use the printer in the garage Its pretty cold out there

Nice mat. I use a plastic tray. It's a good idea to have something like this.
I bought extra resin trays so I don't have to keep changing the resin, mine came with covers for top and bottom, very handy to have:

I have seen people put them in a cabinet so they can keep it warm with a small heater, you could also add extraction. That would make a nice project.

Right? There's always a new project going on here!

If you can get ahold of an old computer rack cabinet with solid sides, that would be ideal. You can always cover the front and back easily enough. Build a couple of shelves for it and you could store 2 printers inside. And it won't take much to keep it warm, maybe a heating pad or a spare heated printer bed.

Yeah I was curious how best to heat it
Resin wants 70F or better

Just a note.
I have been using mine lately at about 12°C or possibly colder without any problems.
The temp here goes up to around 18°C in the mid afternoon, but I have been starting the prints in the morning.
My garage, where the printer is, is open at one end so it's as cold as outside.
What I'm saying is, I don't think 70°F is critical, especially for the Elegoo resin.
Perhaps I'm just lucky.
But saying that, it's nice to work in a warm environment.

Good to know.

I just don't want the machine in the house, the chance of a resin spill would be bad for the pets

Better to have it in the garage. I like GrueMasters idea too

Your garage seems quite big on the videos, do you think you will need extraction?
