CR-10 Upgrades - what have you tried?

Post by mscir »

I found a great deal on a CR-10, I'm planning on installing some upgrades, and I was interested in hearing from anyone who has upgraded their CR-10, pros and cons, what's recommended...

Here is a pretty good looking list of upgrades...

Thanks in Advance,

If this is your first machine, I would suggest learning how to use it stock before diving into upgrades.

Yes it's my first machine. The bed is a little loose, it is supposed to move in and out towards or away from me, I believe that's the Y-axis, when I wiggle it there is a little play and it can move maybe 1/4" if I try 'rotating it' about the Y-axis. There are wheels that run in a track under the bed, are they supposed to be adjusted so there is very little play in the bed, so it only moves in a straight line?

Yes you should have a wrench to adjust the eccentric nuts

LePaul,
Thanks for your reply, it didn't come with any tools, I found this vid, which showed what you described, worked perfectly, thank you.

I found out this is a CR-10S.

I'd like to ask you another question, the heatbed cover was damaged, the machine came with a box containing a new magnetic heatbed cover. I found YT vids on how to install it, but I've seen a lot of people posting that they liked their glass heatbed cover. Do you have an opinion either way about magnetic vs glass?

I posted pics here:

I have 3 CR-10S 3D Printers. (I also have 2 CR-10 S5's and 1 CR-10S Pro v2)

I upgraded to Wham Bam Bed Systems and I like them so much, almost all of my machines have them. You remove the glass, adhere the magnetic sheet to the aluminum bed surface. It takes 72 hours for the 3M adhesive to fully bond, then you can place the PEX Flex plate on and begin printing

They cost a bit more but I have used many surfaces and various brands of PEI. I have had no issues with WB. I print many types of materials and the prints adhere great and remove with a simple flex after cooling

Also, if you use Coupon Code WNIC2022 that should save you 10%
