Look forward to your suggestions!

Re: For Sale area?
I was hoping you would not open a for sale area, it's just begging for trouble, from scammers and the like
could it not just be a "post your shop link here " ?
I would hate for the forum to get a bad name because of scammers.
or just wait a while, we don't have many members, and don't believe members would put up a lot for sale, and most can be handled with pm's
we are a tight group now, and we know each other well enough to trust any sale of items.
And I would rather see a discussion about sale of certain printer related items, then just an e-mail address to buy from an unknown member

Well I am certainly open to ideas...I agree the potential for spammers is there but i also have top notch moderators too!Xeno wrote:I was hoping you would not open a for sale area, it's just begging for trouble, from scammers and the like

Re: For Sale area?
I think @Xeno was less worried about the spammers - spam is mostly easy to detect - but more about people trying to sell stuff that doesn't exist or offering something and then just pocketing the money and not delivering the stuff. And this is something that the moderators can't detect.
I would suggest that the Marketplace should have a guideline like this:
Postings in the marketplace category need to include a link to an EXTERNAL marketplace like Ebay, AliExpress, your own web shop. You can promote your item or shop in this category as long as it is relevant and not excessive, but the sale has to be done outside of the forum. Posts in this category that do not have a link to an external marketplace or shop will be deleted.

Re: For Sale area?
To be honest I am not keen to see any commercial link here, there are plenty of other places for doing that -- I don't want to see my 'Unread posts' page full of commercial or 'for sale' links...
Now if active members of this forum want to sell something this is another story -- Like Nekto selling his surplus of parts, Anders/Swordriff/Dim3nsioneer sharing their new development, ...

Re: For Sale area?
Selling a used printer should also be a possibility, shouldn't it? With proper documentation of course so one can judge if it is a serious offer.

Re: For Sale area?
I think no commercial links is a good idea, I visit other 3D printing sites, and I see the same postings to sell stuff on several websites at the same time,
Like the 3D hubs Talk talk site, now there is a "Zoe" with a nice cleavage avatar selling stuff:
https://www.3dhubs.com/talk/thread/some ... -warehouse
I would hate that happening here

Re: For Sale area?
Very good points...
Buyer beware of course...but I would like to have people able to purchase offerings our established members can offer.

Re: For Sale area?
It's a great idea if carefully watched. Mind you, at this stage there is hardly a vast market here for spammers to salivate over.

Re: For Sale area?
Well I have 3 moderators who are very, very responsive to the reports and alerts you guys give.
I think that's a big plus to our community...since I am 6 to 8 hours behind most of you, they nail down a lot of fishy posts before I see them
