Saturn 4 Ultra. Print times are almost double
hey all,
testing out my new Saturn 4 Ultra. Slicing in Chitubox 1.94
Doing a Test Print and oddly enough the Printing Time Estimate from Chitubox (which is usually darn close) is appearing as Double on the Printer
any idea why this may be? completely bizarre.
thanks!

How did you manage to get Saturn 4 Ultra so quick, I'm still waiting for mine.
I've always taken the times from the software as a rough guide, up to adding 50% a times.

Re: Saturn 4 Ultra. Print times are almost double
i pre ordered it. maybe i'm just lucky as far as timing goes.
so, did a print over night. it said 22 hrs, but chitubox said 11.5. when i woke up it was almost finished.
looks like the machine estimate is no reliable. at least i know now.
thanks for pitching in Lez0

Nice to see you have a new printer on the way!
I've been learning how to use my Formlabs 3L resin printer at work

Paul
You work with 3D printer as well!
I must say I prefer the resin to FDM.

Yes there are more precautions you need to take but to me to get the print quality it's worst it.
By the way I always dispose the old resin and alcohol correctly and have the printer in an open area.
I also don't have the luxury of a furry animal.

Ha I have three, pick one, I'll ship! ha !
The other thing I thing most forget is sanding resin prints...really extremely high hazard if you inhale that stuff. Not that FDM isn't risky too.
Having worked in a research laboratory environment the past 5 years, I view 3D printer technology very differently now.

Re: Saturn 4 Ultra. Print times are almost double
Well my Saturn 4 Ultra arrived last week and I was able to set it up today and try it.
Both Citubox that came with the printer and the printer asked to be updated, which I did.
The print was a previous one to compare the Saturn 2 & the 4 Ultra.
Print time in Chitubox 1:43 actual time 1:45, can't argue with that. Perhaps you need to update the software, I'm using V2.2 Beta.
Print time is more than twice as fast as the Saturn 2, and the quality seems to be the same, although I'm sure I can improve it with a bit of testing.
Very happy with the Saturn 4 Ultra. The only problem I have is I can't turn the top plate 90° to drain the resin after the print like the Saturn 2.

Re: Saturn 4 Ultra. Print times are almost double
great to hear Lez0,
so far i like it too. my pc, intentionally, isn't hooked to the net and is still on W7. intentionally as well.
the chitubox 2.0 included with the S Ultra 4 wouldn't install correctly. so i'm on 1.93 i think.
my experience with the fast mode was not good. my printed are large and highly intricate. so the speed was too much

Re: Saturn 4 Ultra. Print times are almost double
I finally had to upgrade to W10, I hate it, I still have an old PC with W7 for legacy software, it's nice to use that PC, everything seems so simple and stable.
The software for the Ultra is for Windows, Mac and Linux. You could always have Linux running virtual on W7 so you have the latest software.
I have my Ultra on the network so I can run it remotely, it works well. I can also view the prints through the camera, this is handy.
I have to say the Saturn 4 Ultra is as near to plug and play as you can get. I only had one print fail and that was a support issue.
