I just paid the annual hosting and associated costs the forum incurs running on our GoDaddy hosting plan.
I've hung up the 'donations please' sign for some time and usually I garner $50 some years, maybe a bit more on others.
So my fun little forum here doesn't pay for itself - that's fine.
I see the regulars enjoying it and despite having to patrol for the spammers every few days, it hasn't been much of a headache.
Here's the idea I have - as you know, yours truly has a marginally popular YouTube Channel, whose profits pretty much fund this place.
I've been working with a really talented web developer on building my YouTube channel's website. I used to do web stuff in the early 2000's but like most former IT guys, I don't have the time, attention span and know "what's new and cool" on that tech anymore. So, the wonderful world of contracting someone whose a genius is very appealing.
One thing I am looking to do is not only upgrade this software but change the layout a bit to match with the YouTube channel.
So visually, things might change. Themes, logos and that sort of thing.
But the YouTube channel has been doing well, has over 1.6 million views and just over 10,000 active subscribers.
I think it could be a lot of fun to get some of the viewers in here, participating in the discussions.
The more the merrier, right?
Thoughts?
