Well it is starting to look decent I would say, although now it is essentially an Makerbot hotend/feeder with a gear on it ;-)

It would be interesting with a higher gear ratio and a smaller/lighter stepper. The motor in the pictures is still huge in my opinion.
That size stepper motor is probably the smallest that is easy and cheap to source though, which is most likely the explanation to why they don't go smaller.

Hi..I have the titan aero on my maker select v2 . It is constantly grinding filament due to the one-sided gear. I have done everything from esteps, to different nozzles, and lots of calibration, and it seems that no matter how much cooling there is on the Heatsink, it will grind PLA/ABS quite quickly. I havent had a successful PLA print in three months. I absolutely cannot wait for my MK3 this month.
