If anyone is thinking of upgrading to a Duet3D board, they are clearing out old stock of DuetWifi v1.03 right now and the price is lowered with £18. Reason is there is a new v1.04 out that has fuses and some diodes to improve EMI and protect inputs, mainly to make it easier for manufacturers to comply with regulations.
Sadly, they seem to have cleared all stock of DuetEthernet :/
I've heard so much good about these things but then the part about wiring and configuring them for individual printers seems a bit sparse

I would say the opposite...there is a wealth of information on the Duet3D site...and they have a web-configurator that makes it easy to create a base config that will get you started.
That said, the Duet3D is a "swiss army knife" in comparison to the 8-bit boards running Marlin et.al. that most printers use...and most people buy for their own projects...so, to some degree, it will be a bit more complex.

Is there a configurator? I didn't see that when I was checking them out a year (or more) ago
