Graphic gurus?
I would like to make some changes to the forum, so it looks a bit nicer...whose really good with graphics?
I would really like your input on how it should look (Since some of my ideas have been epic fails )
For example, the site_logo.gif is 149 x 52 px
I'm drawing a blank on a good logo!
Ideas? Suggestions?

Don't change too much right now. You have done amazing in just a few weeks. Let it settle for a while! Even god apparently rested on the 7th day

Re: Graphic gurus?
Oh God bless you, what a nice thing to say
I would like to make it look a lot less 'default' settings. But my free time has been going quickly, between toying with the printer, gym/fitness and I get completely lost in my Aces High air combat sim from time to time (http://www.hitechcreations.com/)

Dude, that was also the first idea the guys form UM had... the result.... we're here
I think, it looks great as it is - has all the required functonallity and nothing more. Rest a little, then we will see further...

I can only agree with reibuehl and drayson: Content over design!

It looks great, not flashy just nice and simple, I'd leave it as is nice and practical, so sit back with a coffee and a biscuit

Re: Graphic gurus?
Well I would still like a 3D printer-ish looking favicon if someone crafts one

Re: Graphic gurus?
To replace the phpBB logo, make it simple: take a picture of your printer, crop to the right size and done

Re: Graphic gurus?
I'm talking about the logo at the top, not the favicon

Re: Graphic gurus?
Well here's a few shots I took with my DSLR and they look terribly squished at 149 x 52 for the logo

Re: Graphic gurus?
LePaul, I was playing around with python and web yesterday and wanted a favicon. Then I stumbeld accross your post and the attached picture. So I thought I help a bit if I can.
First I cut your printer out of the background, rotated it a bit. That will give you a more or less clean, transparent look (so you can set the background you like): There are 2 Files, the img_0133_ORI_CUTOUT.zip is your original file but cutout. Which you could use for the logo. The second ist a 310x310 px file I used to generate the favicons.
I found this site: http://www.favicon-generator.org/, that let's you create automatically multiple size icons (attached in the zip file). They use the following header code with the icons:
Hope it helps!
Maybe someone a bit more creative can come up with a nice 149x52 Logo?

Re: Graphic gurus?
I need to read up on this...but I wonder if there is a way to have the webserver detect the client and load the appropriate icon
