slicing under a angle for normal printers
slicing under a angle for normal printers
hey,
I have been looking for a solution for a problem for a while.
The problem, I want to print a hollow piece but without support. Built up like with the black belt printer but then printed with a normal printer.
So I want to build up at an angle of 45 ° in the air, just like UMaine did when printing their boat. hollow closed pieces but printed in one go.
The question now is how to produce that gcode. ok i also have to make a holder for 45 ° printing but that is not the end of the world.
I have already watched Cura Black Belt Edition but there is the max angle of slicing together with the movement of x and z axis.
I also looked at non-planar printing but they still follow the surface of the previous print there.
So I only want to adjust the slic angle.

Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
Did some research and found some information listed below.
How to slice on a Conveyor Belt 3D Printer
Use any slicer and Tilted Conveyor FDM Printer Post Processor
4.3.Software in link below.
https://web.wpi.edu/Pubs/E-project/Avai ... ission.pdf
Another option it this Download Blackbelt Cura 3.6
@LePaul is there any information that you could add this type of 3D Printer.

Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
I had see the first link, but they have also no XYZ 90°/90°/90°, more a xy 90°/90° and Z=45°
I have looked at the black belt frome cura, but I fear it is only possible for the black belt you really need a machine where the Z is 45 ° or more tilted.
It is just not possible on my cr10
I just tilt only my extruder on 45° and want to move in XYZ simultane, so movements in 3directions in fact.
the geant printer from UMaine do that.
The slicer have to calculate 3positions than and not 2, so converting existing Gcode is I think(not sure) not possible.

Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
Someone will most likely have some better information for you.
Blackbelt Cura Source code is available
Though I see you can change the Gantry degree angle.

Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
Yes, but the angle is together with xz, so you have to rebuild your machine, no 90dr
Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
The slicer need to produce 3 coordinates , the only time i see it was by umaine. Don't now of other slicersoftware can do that.
Slicer and cura don't do that,

Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
You see clear movments in xyz
Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
in another video I saw that the head has a 5-axis steering.
So the slicer settings of that machine is maybe not the right one, my relatively small cr10 does not fit a rotating head ....

I typed up something similar to your last post, stating that I do not believe the controllers we use will work. Though when saving it as a draft because I got distracted, the saved draft did not get saved. An have not had the time re-Post.
I have a MPCNC an it order to get is to do what I would like need 8 Stepper motor Drivers.

Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
The software from Ingersoll is not freely available and is a very custom slicer
The 45 degree nozzle is also something I can not share much about right now.
We've been doing some training with the manufacturer on the 5 axis machine head. It's impressive stuff I may need a refresher in Trig!

Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
I just did a test with tilt and extrude at the same time and the printer just does this. So I just have to find a slicer that can cut at an angle and add three coordinates. I'm going to throw a fish at the guys from slic3er I think ...
Ingersoll is not for a hobby....

Re: slicing under a angle for normal printers
Hey,
Still a state of affairs,
So far I have not found any software that can slice at an angle and then give three coordinates. Printing my hollow box goes back into the refrigerator until I have built a belt printer.
I've done some sugestions but I can't program it myself so I hope it will be picked up by others.
